Add PayPay Card to Apple Pay in as Little as One Minute

- Complete Apple Pay setup within the PayPay app! Easier experience with no need to enter card information -

PayPay Corporation(PayPay)and PayPay Card Corporation(PayPay Card)are pleased to announce that starting in May 2024, PayPay Card(including PayPay Card Gold)can be added to Apple Pay from within the cashless payment service app “PayPay.”(※1),(※2)Now, iPhone users no longer need to enter their credit card numbers, expiration dates, security codes, etc., which were previously required when adding a card to Apple Pay via the Wallet app, and can easily include their PayPay Card in Apple Pay in as little as one minute from the PayPay app or from the PayPay Card mini app.

By adding a PayPay Card in Apple Pay on the iPhone, users can easily and conveniently complete payments by tapping their phone or by using QUICPay™, all without the hassle of having to take out credit cards from their wallets or entering their PIN. In addition, PayPay Card payments via Apple Pay will be counted toward PayPay STEP, a reward program where the number of payments and amount of money are the conditions for meeting the requirements. Further, up to 2% of the purchase price will be granted as PayPay Points depending on whether PayPay STEP conditions have been fulfilled or not.

Apple Pay setup flow(UI is subject to change)

The PayPay Card mini app not only allows seamless application and registration for a physical PayPay Card and using “PayPay Credit,” but also allows PayPay cardholders to easily check billing details, card numbers, and more. In addition to the “Anshin Usage Limit” service available since March in the PayPay Card mini app, which allows users to restrict their card’s payment functionality, the ability to add PayPay Card to Apple Pay increases the convenience of PayPay Card users.

The number of payments and the amount paid, which are conditions for meeting PayPay requirements, will be counted for PayPay Card payments(including via Apple Pay), and the added point rate will be valid for said payments as well.(※3) By using “PayPay Credit” at stores where “PayPay” is available and using PayPay Card at stores where “PayPay” is not available but credit cards are accepted, users can more easily achieve PayPay STEP and earn up to 2% of the paid amount as PayPay Points.

※1 The PayPay app must be updated to version 4.44.0 or above. Please note that the PayPay Card must be enabled on PayPay Credit in advance. For more details on adding the card to Apple Pay, please click here.
*2. This feature allows users to make reservations seamlessly, as well as order products and services provided by PayPay’s partner companies, all from the PayPay app.
※3 PayPay STEP will be applied only to payments with PayPay Card and PayPay Card Gold that have been enabled on PayPay Credit. PayPay Card payments via the PayPay app are not eligible.
Please note that payments made on a family member’s account will be counted towards the family member including points granted. For more information on PayPay STEP, please visit here.
