【About PayPay】
PayPay is the name of smartphone payment services provided by PayPay Co., a joint venture established by SoftBank Corp. and Yahoo Japan. PayPay provides two types of payment instruments: Electric money (PayPay Balance or Yahoo! Money) and credit cards. Users can choose whichever instrument they want to use. PayPay has the advantage of flexibility in the choice of payment methods — User Scan and Store Scan. In the User Scan (scan payment) method, users hold their smartphones, with the PayPay app being activated, over QR codes available at PayPay membership merchants. The PayPay app scans the codes. In the Store Scan (code payment) method, users show their smartphone displays with on-screen barcodes or QR codes, while PayPay membership merchants scan the codes. Merchants can choose either of the two methods.
