PayPay Launches in Marunouchi Area’s Marunouchi, Shin-Marunouchi and Other Bldgs

PayPay Corporation (“PayPay Co.”, “we”, “our” or “us”), a joint venture established by SoftBank Corp. and Yahoo Japan Corporation, has become a choice of approximately 600 shops in Marunouchi area’s commercial facilities, which are operated by Mitsubishi Jisho Property Management Co., Ltd. (“Mitsubishi Jisho”), to provide its PayPay smartphone payment services (“PayPay”).

On April 17, about 140 shops in the Marunouchi Building started supporting PayPay as a starter, followed by roughly 150 shops in the Shin-Marunouchi Building on April 19. Starting mid-May, PayPay will become available in Tokyo Building Tokia, Marunouchi Brick Square, iiyo!!, Marunouchi Oazo, Nijubashi Square, and other buildings and facilities in the Marunouchi area.

PayPay will also become available at other shops in the Marunouchi area accordingly.

■ PayPay app basic features

A smartphone payment service by e-money (“PayPay Balance” or “Yahoo! Money”) and credit cards, depending on the user’s choice.

The service provides two payment methods- user scan (scan payment) method in which users read the QR code of a merchant store using the app and, store scan (code payment) method in which a member store reads the barcode or the QR code displayed by a user on the app at the store cash registers, chosen by the merchant store.
