PayPay Corporation (“PayPay Co.”, “we”, “our” or “us”) announces that its “PayPay” smartphone payment services are provided accordingly, starting late May, at all shops and restaurants, which have adopted “AirPAY”, a POS payment solution provided by Recruit Lifestyle Co., Ltd.
AirPAY provides shops and restaurants with POS payment services to accept credit cards, e-money, QR codes and loyalty points. All shops and restaurants, which will introduce “AirPAY” and “AirPAY QR” at the same time, accept payments with PayPay, starting late May. PayPay also becomes available at shops and restaurants, which already have “AirPAY” and “AirPAY QR” in place, accordingly.
We continue to provide convenience of smartphone payments for all retailers, service providers and users, aiming to realize society where anyone can enjoy shopping without cash anywhere in Japan, while striving for our customers’ safe and secure use of PayPay.
■ PayPay’s main features
PayPay provides two types of payment instruments: E-money (“PayPay Balance” or “Yahoo! Money”) and credit cards. Users can choose whichever instrument they want to use.
PayPay also provides merchants with flexibility in the choice of payment methods — User Scan (scan payment) and Store Scan (code payment). In the User Scan method, users hold their smartphones, with the PayPay app being activated, over QR codes available at PayPay membership merchants. The PayPay app scans the codes. In the Store Scan method, users show their smartphone displays with on-screen barcodes or QR codes, while PayPay membership merchants scan the codes.
