PayPay Corporation (“PayPay Co.”, “we”), a joint venture jointly established by SoftBank Group Corp., SoftBank Corp., and Yahoo Japan Corporation, will participate in the “Unified QR “JPQR(*1)” Dissemination Project” (the Project)”.
This project is to verify the operation process of developing member merchants and other processes and to verify the progress of cashlessization by providing services at low fee rates and others, with an aim to disseminate QR code payment methods (code payment) among a wide range of business operators including small-scale stores, covering four areas (the entire areas of Iwate Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, and Fukuoka Prefecture). As a payment business operator, we will provide payment services with the unified QR code and barcode “JPQR” in accordance with the guidelines of the Project, and operate the services to improve the convenience of users and increase the productivity of business operators.
PayPay Co. will continue to provide the convenience of smartphone payments to all retailers, service providers, and users, aiming for achieving a society where users can do cashless shopping anywhere in Japan.
*1 A unified QR code and barcode formulated by Payments Japan Association on March 29, 2019 to avoid burden imposed on stores and a decrease in convenience for users due to the use of QR codes and barcodes unique to each code payment business operators (observers: Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications and Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).

Overview
In order to promote the widespread use of small-scale code payments, including code payments at small scale stores, the project will introduce, in whole target areas, the unified QR code and bar code (JPQR) formulated by Payments Japan Association (Chairman: Hiroo Unoura), verify the operation process of developing member merchants and other processes and verify the progress of cashlessization by providing services at low fee rates and others. The project covers four areas (the entire areas of Iwate Prefecture, Nagano Prefecture, Wakayama Prefecture, and Fukuoka Prefecture).
