Yahoo Japan Corporation (“Yahoo! JAPAN”) transfers its e-money business operations, which are currently provided under the name of “Yahoo! Money”, to PayPay Corporation (“PayPay Co.”) as of September 30, 2019. Yahoo! Money will be integrated into PayPay. Along with this, balance of Yahoo! Money accounts, which are held by Yahoo! Money users as of September 30, will be transferred to balance of PayPay accounts. Transfer of Yahoo! Money allows Yahoo! JAPAN and PayPay Co. to integrate online and offline payment methods into a single platform and provide services with greater convenience.
Starting September 30, Yahoo! Money users, who hold PayPay accounts, can use their account balance of Yahoo! Money to make payments with PayPay, as their account balance of PayPay. For example, payments can be made with PayPay through online services, including Yahoo! Shopping, and at PayPay membership merchants. In addition, information registered with Yahoo! Money (e.g. bank account information to make payments by using savings accounts) can be transferred to PayPay.
Non-PayPay users, who hold Yahoo! Money accounts, can create new PayPay accounts and link their Yahoo! JAPAN ID to PayPay on or after September 30. By doing so, they can transfer their account balance of Yahoo! Money and information registered with Yahoo !Money to PayPay accounts, based on our current outlook.
In line with the integration of services, “Yahoo! Money” and “Yokin-barai” services will reach their end of service, accordingly, starting in early September.(*) Yahoo! Money is currently supported by Yahoo! JAPAN’s services, while Yokin-barai allows customers to make payments immediately by direct debit.
PayPay has become a choice of more than eight million users in total in about eight months of launch in October 2018, fast-growing into a service for everyday uses of many users. PayPay Co. provides great convenience of payments for all retailers, service providers and users, aiming to realize a society where anyone can enjoy cashless shopping anywhere in Japan.
