PayPay Corporation, a joint venture of SoftBank Group Corp., SoftBank Corp., and Yahoo Japan Corporation is pleased to announce that from May 15, 2020, “PayPay Bill Payment” (*1) supports invoices issued by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (“NHK”), enabling payment of the NHK subscription fee by PayPay.
“PayPay Bill Payment” is a service that enables instantaneous payment of utility bills such as electricity, gas, and water by scanning the barcode on the utility bill (payment slip) using the PayPay app. As this allows for the payment of taxes and utility bills 24 hours a day from home, there will no longer be any need to go outside, whilst the request to stay-at-home continues. This will also save the time and effort required to withdraw cash and as well as the withdrawal fee. In addition, 0.5% to 1.5% (*2) of the amount paid will be granted as a PayPay Bonus (*3) by using “PayPay Bill Payment”, providing even further benefits.
As of April 2020, “PayPay Bill Payment” supports utility bills (payment slips) for 641 local governments and businesses (387 municipalities and 254 water bureaus), 51 utility bills for electricity and city gas utilities, and 209 utility bills (*4) for sales of goods and services by private companies, and plans to support even more in the future.
PayPay will continue to expand its functions and services leveraging its well-known “payment” function, to create new financial services and to enhance its “Mini App” function that completes the entire order-to-payment process just by using PayPay. By evolving into a “Super App”, PayPay will make users’ lives richer and much more convenient, where they can feel safe about making easy cashless payments “anytime, anywhere with Paypay”.
*1 To use “PayPay Bill Payment” it is necessary to update the PayPay app to version 1.34.0 or higher.

-The maximum amount that can be granted in a single transaction is the equivalent of JPY 7,500.
-“Total monthly grant limit”: Up to JPY 15,000, combining “maximum redemption of 1.5% on payments made with PayPay” and “Bonus for specific service use”.
*3 A PayPay bonus is granted 30 days after the day following the payment date. Depending on the user’s usage status and system circumstances, the grant time may be delayed. In addition, to make a payment, only PayPay balance can be used and credit cards cannot be used.
