■ Number of Services that Support PayPay Bill Payment

With “PayPay Bill Payments”, you can pay your taxes, utility bills and more from the comfort of your home, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can save the time, effort, and fees of withdrawing cash. Also, with the spread of COVID-19, the number of payments is increasing as more users want to refrain from unnecessary outings. Since the service’s launch on September 2, 2019, more and more users are switching to “PayPay Bill Payments”. When the state of emergency was declared back in May 2020, the number of payments jumped approximately 2.2 times higher than the previous month. As the use of e-payments is recommended in the “New Lifestyle” published by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare website), further expansion of online payments is expected in the future.

Also, when you use PayPay Bill Payment (*3), 0.5% to 1.5% of the payment amount (*4) will be returned in the form of PayPay bonus (*5), which means it is not only a convenient tool, but also a good way to save money.

PayPay Bill Payment has helped local governments and private companies to improve fee collection rates and business operations. It is attracting wide attention as a new means of payment for organizations that wish to increase efficiency. Local governments, especially in Tokyo, are looking for ways to improve convenience for taxpayers and to promote cashless payments within the municipalities, and therefore are actively implementing PayPay Bill Payment into payments for local government public funds (fees for the use of administrative services, municipal payments and water bills) .

PayPay will continue to expand its functions and services leveraging its well-known “payment” function, to create new financial services and to enhance its “Mini App” function that completes the entire order-to-payment process just by using PayPay. By evolving into a “Super App”, PayPay will make users’ lives richer and much more convenient, where they can feel safe about making easy cashless payments “anytime, anywhere with Paypay”.

■ Main features of “PayPay”

PayPay is a cashless payment service that continues to expand across Japan, available not only in major chain stores but also at small to medium scale retail stores, vending machines, taxis and even public transport. It is also available in various other scenarios including payments for online services and bill payments such as utility costs. PayPay has also expanded its breadth to services other than just payments, such as the “send/receive” feature that enables users to send PayPay balance (PayPay Money and PayPay Money Lite) between each other for free, or “bonus management” service which enables a simulated investment experience. PayPay also strives to create an environment that ensures a safe & convenient user experience, through measures such as providing a hotline where inquiries are accepted 24/7, and providing full compensation, in principle, in the event that the user is caused any damages.
