“PayPay Pickup” Now Available on Instagram!

PayPay corporation, a joint venture between SOFTBANK Group Inc. and SOFTBANK CORP. and Yahoo Japan Corporation, is happy to announces that the pre-ordering service “PayPay Pickup” will be available through the “Food Order” feature provided by Instagram, operated by Facebook, as of July 16, 2020.

”PayPay Pickup” is a mobile ordering service that PayPay has started offering nationwide since June. Users can place an order with a pickup merchant from their home, school, office, or anywhere else and receive the product without having to wait at the store.

“PayPay Pickup” is now available on Instagram, where you can share photos and videos along with a link to “Food Order” feature. Using this feature, it is possible for merchants to place an action button on their store profile screen and invite users to their “PayPay Pickup” store page. Merchants can also use the “Food Order” stamp in “Stories” on the Instagram, where images and videos are posted for 24 hours. When a user taps the “Food Order” stamp posted by the merchant, they are navigated to the “PayPay Pickup” store page set up by the merchant and can order any item they like.

”PayPay Pickup” is currently offered as one of PayPay’s initiatives to support restaurants and other businesses that have started takeout services in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. There are virtually no fees to use PayPay Pickup nor system usage fees (*2). The “Order Food” function in “Instagram” can also be set up for free for any account using an “Instagram” business account (*3), as long as the account meets the “Instagram” eligibility rules (*4). The use of takeout and electronic payments is recommended by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s “New Normal” (refer to the website of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), and by using both the “PayPay Pickup” and “Order Food” functions, merchants can efficiently reach out to prospective customers, attract new and repeat customers, and increase sales by addressing the growing demand for takeout.

Moreover, starting from August 17, you can use “PayPay Pickup” to get a 20% return on your payment in “PayPay bonus”, by participating in the “PayPay Pickup Debut Campaign“. (SoftBank and Y Mobile smartphone users and Yahoo! Premium members can earn up to 30% by PayPay bonus.) With the total number of PayPay users topping 30 million (*5), we will promote this campaign to provide PayPay users with a convenient and affordable shopping experience and support merchants providing a takeout service.

PayPay will continue to support users, as well as all retailers and service providers, with cashless payment services, providing the convenience of cashless payment and allowing customers to shop safely, anywhere in Japan. PayPay will evolve into a “Super App” to make users’ lives richer and much more convenient. Users can make safe and easy cashless purchases “anytime, anywhere with PayPay”.
