New Initiative to Support Merchants’ Sales Promotions with PayPay Points—Start of Extra PayPay Points Stores

- PayPay to partner with Welcia and Winticket from September for more opportunities to earn PayPay Points -

PayPay Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of a new initiative, Extra PayPay Points Stores, to support merchants’ sales promotions using PayPay Points, allowing merchants to grant their own PayPay Points to users.
Welcia Yakkyoku Co., Ltd. (hereinafter “Welcia”), which operates a nationwide chain of drugstores with dispensing facilities, and WinTicket Inc. (hereinafter “Winticket”), which provides a service that allows users to bet and receive payouts for state-sponsored sports gambling online via smartphones and computers, will start offering PayPay Points to their customers as their unique point service.

If a merchant is an Extra PayPay Points Store, they will be able to design the timing and conditions for granting points in accordance with their marketing strategies, and use PayPay Points for sales promotions at any given time. As the first promotional measure, Welcia will grant extra points every Monday starting from September 4, where if users pay with “PayPay” through the Welcia Group App they will receive 1% extra in points, for a maximum of 3%*1 of PayPay Points. In addition, users can earn up to 8% if they include points from other companies that Welcia grants through its Monday-exclusive promotion.*2

*1. Depending on how many PayPay STEP conditions are met, the regular grant rate will increase from 0.5% to 1.0%, 1.5%, or 2.0%. The grant rate may vary depending on the previous month’s usage. PayPay’s maximum grant rate of 2% combined with 1% from Welcia.
*2. Users can check the amount of points of other companies on the receipt, and the amount of PayPay Points in “PayPay.” For more details, please click here.

For the second promotional campaign, PayPay is scheduled to introduce the Extra PayPay Points Store measure to Winticket (https://www.winticket.jp/) from late September, and PayPay Points will be added to the common points granted as a regular benefit regardless of the payment method. Two types of common points can be selected, and one point is granted for every 200 yen of the purchase amount. When paying with “PayPay,” users can save 0.5% of PayPay Points (one point per 200 yen) on top of receiving up to 2%*3 of the paid amount, for a total of 2.5%.

PayPay has been providing sales promotion support services utilizing PayPay Points to local governments, manufacturers, and merchants, leveraging the PayPay app with its 58 million users as a sales promotion platform*4. As PayPay Coupons have become popular, the number of coupons issued by manufacturers and merchants, as well as the number of users have also increased, exceeding 15 million.*5 Furthermore, PayPay Gift Cards are more commonly used by companies as rewards for promotions and surveys, and PayPay Points are also widely used in promotional campaigns conducted in cooperation with local governments and manufacturers

PayPay will continue to expand its efforts to support merchants’ strategic sales promotions and customer attraction, and enhance sales channels, thereby increasing the value of PayPay Points as common points and creating a world where PayPay Points can be saved and used in all aspects of daily life.

*3. One point will be granted for every 200 yen (including tax). Users can get up to 2% by meeting the conditions of PayPay STEP. The grant rate may vary depending on the previous month’s usage.
