PayPay Corporation, a joint venture between Softbank Group Corp., Softbank Corp., and Yahoo Japan Corporation, will begin offering a new service called “PayPay Gift Cards”. This will allow companies to grant PayPay bonuses to users starting from April 16, 2020.
With a “PayPay gift card”, companies can issue a gift card number or URL and send it to users. Users enter the number of the gift card they received on the PayPay app or tap on the gift card’s URL to get a PayPay bonus equivalent to a pre-defined amount on the gift card. The amount will be topped-up to the user’s PayPay app on the spot (click

Until today, companies were not able to grant PayPay bonuses. PayPay bonuses were issued only when users made a payment at a PayPay merchant or participated in a PayPay-sponsored promotion program. This will, however, change. Now that there are more than 2 million (*1) PayPay merchants nationwide, users will be able to use their PayPay Gift Cards in multiple situations including online shops and also bill payments, simply by redeeming the PayPay bonus on their PayPay app. By using “PayPay”, which has more than 25 million users today (*2), businesses will be able to increase their appeal in their sales promotion activities.
PayPay will continue to expand its functions and services leveraging its well-known “payment” function, to create new financial services and to enhance its “Mini App” function that completes the entire order-to-payment process just by using PayPay. By evolving into a “Super App”, PayPay will make users’ lives richer and much more convenient, where they can feel safe about making easy cashless payments “anytime, anywhere with Paypay”.
