“Billion Yen New Year’s Lottery”: Complete Missions to Earn More Lottery Tickets!

- One in five chance to win a "PayPay Bonus," and first time "PayPay" users who complete identity verification with the My Number Card can draw up to 162 times! -

PayPay Corporation (hereinafter “PayPay”), a joint venture of SoftBank Group Corp., SoftBank Corp., and Yahoo Japan Corporation, will hold the “Billion Yen New Year’s Lottery” from December 27, 2021. In this campaign, a total of one billion yen worth PayPay Bonus*1 will be given out, and users can win a bonus of up to worth 100,000 yen.

There is a one in five chance of winning a “PayPay Bonus” in the “Billion Yen New Year’s Lottery.” Current PayPay users can draw up to 112 times and users who are new to PayPay*2 can receive up to 162 lottery tickets.

During the mission period which starts on December 27, users can attempt a total of 10 missions, such as claiming a “PayPay Coupon” or visiting the campaign page, and increase the number of draws depending on their achievements. In order to participate in this campaign, the user’s identity verification screening must be completed*3 and their email address must also be registered.

PayPay will continue strengthening its efforts to encourage users to verify their identity in order to provide a safer and more secure payment infrastructure for both users and merchants. This campaign will be held as part of this effort.

*1. PayPay Bonus will be granted on a later date. Please note that it cannot be cashed out or sent to other users.

*2. New users who register with PayPay between December 16, 2021, 12 a.m. and January 12, 2022, 1:59 a.m. (must complete the account registration process that is completed upon SMS authentication).

*3. Identity verification is available for users who have completed the screening process before the campaign period and for those who have completed the screening process with their My Number Card, including the use of the Japanese Public Key Infrastructure (JPKI), during the campaign period. Promotion period:

Mission period: December 27, 2021, 9 a.m. – January 12, 2022, 1:59 a.m.
Drawing period: January 14, 2022, 6 p.m. – January 21, 2022, 11:59 p.m.

Conditions for participation (applicable users):

Users who have completed identity verification screening and registered their email address

* Users who complete identity verification with their driver’s license or driving history certificate by December 26 are also eligible.

* When performing identity verification after 9 a.m. on December 27, only users who complete the screening using their My Number Card will be eligible.

List of missions:

* The campaign page will be available from December 27.

* The daily missions can be performed every day during the mission period, and each mission can grant up to 16 draws.

* The one-time missions will become completed at the start of the campaign for those already using “PayPay” and who have already registered or linked accounts with the service. The number of draws for each of these mission will be awarded at the same time. However, for “Receive PayPay Balance,” receiving balance before December 27 does not count as completing a mission.

Prizes of the “Billion Yen New Year’s lottery” (one in five chance to win a “PayPay Bonus”):

* The odds of winning each prize have been set based on the number of draws projected by the company. The “one in five chance” is an indication of the probability of winning and not a guarantee for winning once every five draws. The number of winners for each prize will be determined after the end of the mission period.

* The odds of winning each prize are not equal, but get lower as the prize amount increases.

Grant date:

30 days from the day following the draw date.

* In principle, the PayPay Bonus will be granted 30 days from the day following the draw date, but the grant may be delayed due to users’ usage situation or for system reasons.

* The PayPay Bonus can be used at any official PayPay store or PayPay Card store. It cannot be cashed out or transferred.

* “PayPay” provides 4 types of PayPay balance: PayPay Money, PayPay Money Lite, PayPay Bonus and PayPay Bonus Lite. PayPay Money can be used to pay for partner services and merchants if it is within the amount deposited into the PayPay account opened after completing an identity verification process. It can also be used for sending and receiving money between PayPay users free of charge. PayPay Money can also be cashed out to a designated bank account (no withdrawal fee if using PayPay Bank). The legal nature of this is an electromagnetic record which can be used to pay for goods and other services, and can be remitted or cashed out, issued by the Company who is a Fund Transfer Operator registered under Article 37 of the Payment Services Act. Based on the provisions of Article 43 of the Payment Services Act, PayPay preserves the debt it owes to its users in full amount and more by depositing its assets. In addition, PayPay Bonus and PayPay Bonus Lite, which are granted through campaigns and promotions when using PayPay, can be used for partner services and merchants in addition to PayPay Money and PayPay Money Lite. However, PayPay Bonus and PayPay Bonus Lite cannot be sent or transferred between PayPay users or be cashed out. PayPay Bonus Lite has an expiration date, after which date it will no longer be valid.

PayPay also strives to create a safe and secure environment for users. If an unexpected payment is made by a third party using a PayPay account, or if a request to settle a payment suddenly arrives from PayPay to a user that does not have a PayPay account, there is a scheme that ensures compensation for the damages suffered (the difference will be provided as compensation if compensation is also provided by a third party), given that the prescribed conditions are met.
