PayPay Corporation (hereinafter “PayPay”) and LY Corporation (hereinafter “LY”) are pleased to announce that users can start linking their “LINE” and “PayPay” accounts starting in summer 2026 (*1). This integration between Japan’s largest communication app and cashless payment service will realize a new, seamless experience allowing LINE users direct access to PayPay.

By linking their accounts, users will be able to send their “PayPay Balance” (*2) or split bills using the “Group Bill” function directly within “LINE” chats, without needing to open the PayPay app. Additionally, depending on user settings, “LINE” friends can be displayed within the PayPay app, allowing users to send “PayPay Balance” to their “LINE” friends more smoothly. A “LINE Mini App” (*3) version of “PayPay” is also scheduled to be launched.
Furthermore, LINE users who do not currently use “PayPay” will be able to register for a PayPay account directly within LINE, without using the PayPay app.
*1. Account linking requires user consent. Even without linking, basic features of “LINE” and “PayPay” will remain available as before. However, features requiring account linking, as well as “Unlinked PayPay Points” earned on LINE after the point integration begins, will not be usable. Furthermore, if a user has already linked their “LINE” and “Yahoo! JAPAN” accounts, or their “PayPay” and “Yahoo! JAPAN” accounts, consenting to this “LINE” and “PayPay” account linking will connect all three accounts (“LINE,” “Yahoo! JAPAN,” and “PayPay”). Please review the consent screen for details.
*2. Sending a “PayPay Money” balance is treated as a remittance, while sending a “PayPay Money Lite” balance is treated as a transfer. For details, please refer to the PayPay Balance Terms of Use.
*3. “LINE Mini App” is a new app platform allowing businesses to offer their services within “LINE.” Services like membership cards, mobile ordering, and reservations can be offered without requiring additional app downloads or registrations, and important notifications can be sent for free. Please check the official website for details: https://www.lycbiz.com/jp/service/line-mini-app/
By strengthening the integration between “LINE” and “PayPay,” we will provide an environment where users can conveniently exchange money according to their everyday needs. Furthermore, the integration of “LINE Points” and “PayPay Points” is planned, allowing “LINE Points” to be converted into “PayPay Points,” which have no expiration date (*4). The rollout of these integrated features and point consolidation will take place sequentially after the account linking begins.
*4. If account linking is not completed, “LINE Points” held prior to the integration will continue to be usable as “LINE Points.” Points earned on LINE services after the point integration will be retained as “Unlinked PayPay Points” for 28 days and will expire if account linking is not completed within that period.
■ “Send/Receive” feature for “PayPay Balance” now available within “LINE” chats
The “Send/Receive” feature of “PayPay” allows users to transfer “PayPay Balance” free of charge 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, boasting a 98% share (*5) of smartphone payment based money transfers. It is widely used in various scenarios, including splitting bills for meals or gifts, exchanging money among family, giving allowances, and sending congratulatory or New Year’s gifts. With account linking, “PayPay Balance” transfers (*2) and group bill splitting can now be done directly within “LINE” chats, enabling smooth money exchanges as a natural extension of daily communication.
*5. Based on data published by the Payments Japan Association (Survey on Code Payment Trends, published March 30, 2026), compiled by PayPay. Calculated using 2025 figures.

<Usage Limit of “PayPay” on “LINE”>

■ Launching the “LINE Mini App” version of “PayPay”
A “LINE Mini App” version of “PayPay” will be launched as a web application offered within LINE. This allows users to access essential PayPay features inside the LINE app, such as checking their “PayPay Balance” and “PayPay Points,” using the “Send/Receive” feature, viewing their transaction history, and topping up from an ATM (*6).
*6. Usage limits for the standard “PayPay” app and the “LINE Mini App” version differ. If identity verification is completed in “PayPay,” the balance in the Mini App will be “PayPay Money.” If not, it will be “PayPay Money Lite.” Identity verification must be completed within the PayPay app. See here for details on how to complete identity verification. Payment and point investment features of “PayPay” are not available in the “LINE Mini App” version at this time.
■ “LINE” friends list displayed in the PayPay app for more convenient interactions
By enabling the dedicated setting within the PayPay app after account linking, users’ “LINE” friends will be displayed. This allows users to use the PayPay “Send/Receive” feature with their “LINE” friends without needing to verify phone numbers or PayPay IDs.

■ Integration of “LINE Points” into “PayPay Points”
“LINE Points” will be integrated into “PayPay Points” to offer a more convenient point service. Following the integration, by linking “LINE” and “PayPay” accounts, “LINE Points” will automatically be converted to “PayPay Points,” which have no expiration date (*4).
“PayPay Points” can be used for everyday payments, as well as for a wide range of services including “PayPay Point Investment,” “PayPay Securities,” “PayPay Insurance,” donations, temple/shrine offerings, and applying points toward “PayPay Card” payments. Additionally, shopping on e-commerce services within LINE will grant “PayPay Points” (*7), making it even easier to accumulate them. There are also plans to offer a new experience with “LINE Gifts,” where points can be earned through communication, such as receiving “PayPay Points” when receiving a gift. In this way, spaces within the “LINE” service where “PayPay Points” are granted and can be used will continue to be expanded going forward.
*7. The “PayPay Points” granted under this initiative include “PayPay Points (Limited-Time),” which can only be used for specific LY Corporation Group services and official PayPay/PayPay Card stores, and “PayPay Points (Regular),” which have no expiration date and can be used at all PayPay merchants (cannot be withdrawn or transferred).

PayPay will continue to promote cashless payments and work to enhance user convenience and improve societal productivity by expanding its services, while also advancing efforts toward sustainable business management.
